Overview

Dwarka, located in the western state of Gujarat, is one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites and holds immense religious significance as the ancient kingdom of Lord Krishna. It is believed to be the first capital of Gujarat and is revered as the place where Krishna settled after leaving Mathura. The city is not only a key center of Vaishnavism but also one of the Sapta Puri (seven sacred cities) of Hinduism.

• Dwarkadhish Temple

  • Also known as Jagat Mandir, this 5-storied temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna as the “King of Dwarka.” It is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in India.

• Gomti Ghat

  • Located near the temple, this is a holy bathing ghat where pilgrims take a dip in the Gomti River, believed to wash away sins.

• Bet Dwarka

  • An island off the coast, believed to be the original residence of Lord Krishna. It is accessible by boat and holds several ancient temples.

• Rukmini Devi Temple

  • Dedicated to Rukmini, the consort of Krishna, this temple stands slightly away from the main city and is architecturally beautiful.

• Nageshwar Jyotirlinga

  • One of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, located near Dwarka, making it a spiritually significant stop for Shaivites as well.
